Ponyboys dreaming and lying to himself worked in this chapter because he didn't want to face the fact that on of his best friends had just died.


2. Why was Johnny's dying so difficult for Dally to handle?
When Johnny died it was hard for Dally to handle because Johnny was the only thing Dally cared about and now that he died what was left for him to care about.


3. Why do you think Dally would have wanted to die?
I think that Dally would have wanted to die because he wanted to be with Johnny again and their was nothing else left for him to care about. His father didn't care about him and Johnny was dead. I think Dally felt dead inside too.
