Vocabulary: Find the meaning of the following word from this chapter and use it in a sentence correctly.

bewildered- To confuse or befuddle.

I was so bewildered that the young girl said that.

1. Do you think Dally's parents have influenced the way he is; his personality? Explain.
Yes. I think that his parents have influenced some of Dally's behavior. Dally explains in the chapter that his father doesn't care if he's dead or drunk or in jail. The other thing that I think has influenced Dally's behavior is that he has been in jail so many times he had to get use to the conditions.

2. Why doesn't Dally want Johnny to turn himself in?
Dally doesn't want Johnny to turn himself in because he says that jail will make him a different person just like Dally. It makes you have no emotion and no expression. Dally is afraid this will happen to Johnny.

3. What "other side" of Dallas is revealed in this chapter?
The "other side" of Dally that is revealed in this chapter is his caring side. The side that cares for Johnny.

4. What's your own definition of a hero? Do the three boys prove themselves to be heroes, according to your definition? Explain.
My definition of a hero is someone who people look up to or some who save a persons life. Yes the three boys are hero's in my definition because they saved the children's lives without thinking about their own.

5. Why do you think Johnny wasn't scared, despite the obvious danger, on page 92?
I don't think that Johnny was scared because he was only thinking about saving the children's lives and he wasn't thinking about his own.
